Professional Development in Education (PDE)

The Postgraduate Deanery, Wales has set up a programme aimed at professionalising the role of clinical and educational supervisors. This programme is entitled Supervising the Route to Excellence. This is a key element in the Deaneries commitment to delivering high quality medical education and training. The Deanery recognises that the key to achieving excellence in postgraduate medical training and education is the provision of support for consultants in their educational roles. One element of this support is the provision of high quality Professional Development in Education (PDE) for supervisors.

The Postgraduate Deanery, Wales in collaboration with the London Deanery have made these modules available to all consultants in Wales. The target audience is those consultants acting as either clinical or educational supervisors.

The content areas in these modules map to the requirements of PMETB as identified in the Draft PDE Framework. Completion of any of these modules will contribute to recognition as an accredited supervisor in Wales.
